CheapForMe.Com: Car Alarms HEADING_TITLE
The most basic, cheap car alarms would consist of at least one sensor and would be connected to some kind of siren, most likely mounted under the hood of a vehicle. Nowadays, car alarms can consist of many sensors placed throughout a vehicle to offer maximum security from theft.

Features to look for
Not all car alarm systems are the same. Some can feature a remote start, and others may only have keyless entry.

  • Car alarms can include motion sensors that work great for all convertible vehicles or when the windows are left open. They also add protection for vehicles, such as a Jeep Wrangler, when a hard top is not in-use. As soon as someone crosses the "invisible line", the alarm will sound.
  • Car alarm systems can include a remote that is designed to "tell" you if your alarm has been breached. If you're relaxing at the beach and your car is amongst hundreds of others, and you hear an alarm in the distance, you'll know whether or not it's yours without having to physically get up and check on it.
  • Cheap car alarm systems can feature glass-break sensors. These sensors are designed to trigger the siren when glass is breaking and/or shattering. Any car thief who still believes in the old school "smash and grab" will be in for a surprise.
  • Car alarms may also include shock, motion or tilt sensors to prevent a car thief from towing your vehicle away. You don't need to break into a vehicle to steal it. You can simply tow it away. A shock, motion and tilt sensor will help to prevent this situation by triggering the siren if the vehicle is moved out of place.

Steps to prevent car theft/breaking into
    1. When you purchase a vehicle, check to see if it already has a car alarm system built-in. If not, install an aftermarket car alarm. This is the most crucial step of protection.

    2. Never leave your windows down when you're away from the vehicle, even if it's alarmed. If your alarm is not equipped with motion sensors, anyone could easily reach in and take anything they want.

    3. Do not leave any personal belongings in clear site, whether valuable to you or not. This is another main reason why a vehicle is broken into.

    4. If your vehicle does not have tinted windows, it's a good idea to get them tinted. A thief would have to peer into the car to see how they would have to break into it. This would make their presence obvious that they are not the owner of the vehicle. Also, tinted windows would make it harder to see any valuables laying around.

    5. Try to park your vehicle only in public places with plenty of light where the vehicle is clearly visible to the public. A car thief does not like being watched, and so, with more eyes on your vehicle, the less chances of anything happening to it.
